I must say that EVERY time I read about what the people of Newfoundland did on Sept 11 I feel a great sense of pride and dignity for myself as a Canadian but more for the people of Newfoundland.
These people were very unknown to the rest of the world before that tragic date. I have had the honour of having "Newfies" for neighbours here in Ontario and having friends that are from Newfoundland. I knew they were always a special type of people LONG before the events of Sept 11. They're open arms and sense of giving have always been a part of these people, but now, the world knows what true Newfoundlanders are all about.....human kindness without even giving a second thought about anything or anyone.
Thank you to the people of Newfoundland for making all Canadians proud that day!! And thank you to those travellers who could appreciate the greatness of these people. Amazing how people with the least in materialistic things have the most to give....isn't it?
